H1Z2Z2-K Solar Cable — Single Core DC Cable for PV Systems
Designed for the DC side. Built to stay outside.
H1Z2Z2-K is a single-core flexible cable made for the direct current side of photovoltaic installations. It connects solar panels to combiner boxes and runs to the inverter. The construction uses a tinned copper conductor with cross-linked insulation and sheath, which means it handles heat, UV, and moisture without the brittle cracking you get from standard PVC cables after a few summers on the roof.
Where it goes
-
Between PV modules (series and parallel string wiring)
-
From string to DC combiner box
-
From combiner box to inverter DC input
-
Rooftop, ground-mount, and floating solar arrays (AD8 water submersion rated on select variants)

Why installers pick this over ordinary RV wire
Building wire does not survive two summers in an outdoor junction box. The insulation on H1Z2Z2-K is cross-linked, not thermoplastic. At 90°C continuous — easy to hit near module backsheets — it will not soften or deform. The tinned copper stops the conductor from turning green, so contact resistance does not creep up over time. The halogen-free sheath gives >60% light transmittance in a fire and low corrosive gas emission, which makes fire inspection on rooftop arrays easier to pass.

Certification
EN 50618:2014 type test
IEC 62930 PV cable system standard
RoHS 2011/65/EU
Optional: TÜV Rheinland certificate (2.5–25mm² range, confirm per batch)

We make one thing well: DC cable for solar.
F.T Cable has been manufacturing H1Z2Z2-K solar cable since 2017. Solar DC cable is the core of what we ship, and it is what we have built our process around.
What we actually control
Tinned copper stranding, XLPO insulation extrusion, sheath application, and in-line meter marking all happen under one roof. We draw and tin our own conductors rather than buying finished wire from traders. That matters because conductor stranding quality is where most cable failures start—loose strands, inconsistent tin thickness, or copper that has sat in storage long enough to oxidize before extrusion. By controlling the upstream step, we catch those problems before they become a reel of cable that fails a bend test six months later.
Who we ship to
70% of our output goes to overseas markets. Our regular customers are PV distributors, EPC contractors, and panel manufacturers who need consistent reels month after month, not one-off container loads. If you are sourcing for a project that spans multiple shipments, we keep your extrusion parameters and conductor spec on file so reel 50 matches reel 1.
Factory visit
If you are in China. We can arrange a line walk-through and pull test on a production reel during your visit. Bring your own micrometer if you want.
